Connecticut's Bottom Line

What this race teaches us, if anything, is to NOT betray the Democratic Party as a Democrat running for office.

Lieberman lost tonight's primary by about 4%. I for one think at least another 1 in 20 voters would have supported Lieberman IF he didn't stab the Party in the back by threatening to run as an Independent. He did the damage to himself.

Lieberman's just selfish: he's willing to compromise the entire US Congress for his own selfish reasons. Instead of being able to push Republicans across the country, we're going to have to deal with the National Media devouring the Lieberman factor. Lieberman's going to ATTACK Democrats by calling us a bunch of crazy, leftwing fools who won't be bipartisan.

News to Joe, it's the Republicans who are the partisan ones. They're the ones who own Congress and won't let Democrats participate - stopping us from having hearings and passing bills that the vast majority of Americans want (such as a fair raise to minimum wage). But there's NOTHING any of us can do about Joe's selfishness. We're just going to have to make sure he loses.
