Kerry Healey Wields the Education Axe

Was anyone else stunned to hear her opinions on Education? She essentially said that all schools should be charters.

It was a pretty heated debate. The first round really beat up on Kerry Healey and her negative ads, but after that everyone took shots at both Patrick and Healey. I think Patrick did well and Healey did okay (well, that's if you ignore her horrible, out of touch positions) and there really weren't any winners - which means Deval won.

By the way, don't we all love the spin? I'm watching NECN's wrap up and Kerry Healey's surrogate was talking about how "a lot of people" just loved Kerry's negative ads. Note to surrogate: no one in that room did.

PS: Andrea Cabral has a future; anyone else find her relatively eloquent and very well spoken?

Update:

Mike Barnacle: "I think Kerry Healey's frightening." He also thinks she'll lose by 10-15 points and isn't "used to speaking out of turn" because she's Mitt Romney's lapdog. Considering Mike Barnacle isn't exactly what I'd describe as a liberal (look at who's shows he's filled in for), I think that's a pretty strong rebuke.

I don't understand what Healey thinks she's accomplishing by coming across as so unpleasant and unlikeable. Nasty vicious people who think they're tough even though they're scared of their own shadow are her base, she had them at hello.

How is this supposed to woo those voters, otherwise known as the vast majority, who didn't already know years ago they were going to vote for whoever the Republican nominee was, regardless of who the other parties nominated?

LOL I love your characterization.

I'm just reading about how Muffy was drowned out by the boos of our grandparents today at the AARP forum. Is there video?

Oh how I would have loved to have been there for that. Here's a quote from the Globe: "At one point, the group of 700 senior citizens with canes and gray hair drowned out Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey with boos as she tried to criticize Democratic candidate Deval Patrick on taxes."

Wow... we need videos!

Andrea Cabral was great! I think she could definitely have a bigger political future ahead. She took that Republican hack to the woodshed on LeGuer, etc.

It was interesting to see the difference between the republican and she... she seemed to analyze, he seemed to spin - and I'm not saying that in a partisan light.

You know, Healey has no class and everybody knows it but it still bothered me how she called him "Deval" while he called her "Lieutenant Governor." He's not your manservant, Ms. Healey. Pretend to show a little more respect for your opponent than you have for the general public.

I agree that Barnicle is not a super-liberal (conservative dem maybe?) but I don't think he can be characterized based on who he fills in for. Jim Braude has filled in for Jay Severin in the past, and I would certainly still classify Braude as liberal.

Well, that's true, but he certainly isn't liberal - and that's going by what I've heard directly from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
