Now I Know Where all the Racoons Went...

I haven't seen a single Racoon or Skunk all summer long. Suddenly, it's all starting to make sense. Invasion of the Wild Turkeys! (Seriously, I've seen them in both Swampscott and Lynnfield.)

Consider this an open thread. Alternatively, feel free to "Ask Ryan Anything." (I haven't done that in forever!)

Up in Maine, we routinely see flocks of 40 or 50, wandering in harvested corn fields and meadows. The noise they make is AMAZING.

Ryan, what do you think about the increased office staff for the gov. down in Washington. He got an extra 450,000 to increase the staff. Why do we need more people there when our overwhelmingly Democratic presence ( all our congressmen and senators)could be looking out for our interests in Washingtom. We need the 450 here at home.

I haven't heard much about it, so I can't really have an opinion on the matter. I will say that what a governor's staff does in D.C. versus a congressperson's staff is inherently different (and far less partisan), so there could be legitimate reasons for the increase.

Wild turkeys can be really mean. A few years ago, a wild turkey was terrorizing patrons at the Wellesley town dump.

Our house here in Wellesley abutts a weed patch maintained by the state of MA. In past years, we have seen grouse, wild turkeys, skunks, coyotes (!) and we still see deer. No moose yet--they tend to go to Natick.
