Tee Hee... McCain's done!

He wasn't born in America. So, unless we have the quickest organized Constitutional Amendment ever, poor, 'ol McCain seems cooked to me.

"No person except a natural born Citizen... shall be eligible to the Office of President." Oopsie! I actually remember this tidbit coming up in my Con Law class back in the day, when I was pretty outraged that someone born in an American base overseas wouldn't be eligible to become President. I even think it's ridiculous that someone who's lived here for 15-20 years couldn't run either - but such is this country's highest law.

My goodness!
So we may get to vote for/against Huckleberry yet?
Although Ralph what-his-name is doing something like rattling around in a closet or something.

Dude, sometimes those memories from college can be wrong... not sure what it is about college that assaults the brain cells and interferes with memory...

Nah, I don't forget in this case. I can remember the reasoning, the conversation, etc.

I should have better explained about why there's plenty of room for doubt, but didn't... so here's why:

also, read David's comment in that thread, because even he recognizes that there's plenty of legal doubt. .. and he did work for not one, but two justices of the Supreme Court... so he, like, kinda knows his constitutional stuff.

Hmm, let us pause to consider President Schwarzenegger...or Kissinger.

This is extra amusing that this McCain fellow claims to be a strict constitutionalist. GOP supporters claim this with him, while more extreme wingers claim otherwise.

This example fits the Republican norm of strict construction, except when they don't want to do that.
