The Independence to Drink Up

The answer to your question is yes, Boston water is among the best in the world. It comes from the Quabbin, which is top notch. Seriously, bottled water has to be one of the biggest and worst marketing scams of all time - we're paying a buck a bottle for something that comes out of the sink practically for free. Running water is perhaps the pinnacle of what it means to have a civilization, yet we fool Americans want our water transported in trucks, wrapped and stagnating in plastic, the bottle's deposit worth more than the water inside.

To put that in perspective, you can have more than a thousand bottles of water from the tap for the same price it would cost for one bottle of Poland Springs (according to an episode of Chronicle I watched, anyway). If people are wondering where they can cut expenses to keep up with this shaky economy, here's the first, best and easiest way. Drink from your sinks, you dinks. Furthermore, water from the tap usually contains key minerals that filtered water sucks right out - making tap water better for you.

So, if anyone's thirsty waiting during today's fireworks, don't bring a bottle of Disani. Bring a container of your freshest tap water and drink up.
