Mass Kids are Smaht

Massachusetts 4th graders ranked 2nd in the world in science and 3rd in mathematics. 8th grade students aren't doing quite as well, but our percent of those achieving advanced scores in science and math ranks favorably compared to the rest of the world, showing that we just need to make sure we're reaching more students. Bottom line, Massachusetts compares favorably to the rest of the world in teaching its kids, especially those who are youngest. We should have a good idea of what we're doing well and what we need to improve.
