Packies Driving Wahmbulance to the Globe

Oh noes! Not a 5% alcohol sales tax! Cue predictable 'woe-is-me' NH border package store story. Wah.

The idea that 50 cents on a $10 bottle of wine is going to send people heading for the (NH) hills is deranged. It would cost more in gas to get there. So, actually, if we increase the gas tax at the same time, maybe we'd be in money. This could work out.

i live in lowell and its already much cheaper to buy alcohol in NH. there's no question that an added 5% will make more people in border communities go north. at least now the price is relatively close. you can say raise the tax anyway thats fine, but it will hurt stores in border communities.
