DeLeo's Backing the Trans Bill

So says the State House News Service (sorry, no linkies).
House Speaker Robert DeLeo has publicly thrown his support behind a bill adding the term “transgender” to the state’s non-discrimination laws and hate crime statutes. The laws cover employment, housing, credit, and public accommodations. A show of support came at a “Gayla” held by a top gay rights group, MassEquality, on Feb. 14 at the Roxy nightclub in Boston, according to individuals who attended the event. DeLeo, who voted against the constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, told the crowd that he was one of the early co-sponsors of the transgender legislation and praised former House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi for his support of gay rights.
It's interesting to note how easy a convert DeLeo was when he wanted the Speakership - and how powerful the GLBT lobby has truly become. We need DeLeo to convert on a few other key issues, as well (slots, slots, slots!).
