I hope newspapers figure things out, but...

The Globe is wrong that only newspapers can do investigative journalism. That can come from a number of sources, from local tv to alt papers to citizen or online-only sites. Newspapers, despite their decline, are still a good source for the occasional investigative piece, but they're not the only one and if a few of the old birds go down, they will be replaced eventually.
