David's absolutely right, please call your legislators and ask them to stand with Deval Patrick on taxes. I've gone at length as to why the sales tax is a bad idea, but it's an even worse idea if all the reforms and other revenue options we need to fix our infrastructure and fund our towns don't come with it. Otherwise, it's a tax with no purpose other than to raise our taxes -- it doesn't accomplish a single, solitary policy goal alone. And to do that, it would be off the backs and the working (and not working) poor, in the midst of our economy's greatest fiscal crisis since the Great Depression.
