More than 75% of people support public option

Great news. Here's the Q.

Question: In any health care proposal, how important do you feel it is to give people a choice of both a public plan administered by the federal government and a private plan for their health insurance--extremely important, quite important, not that important, or not at all important?

Extremely important....58%
Quite important........19%
Not that important..... 7%
Not at all important...15%
Not sure............... 1%

So, 79% think the choice of having a public option is either "extremely important" or "quite important." That's gotta be everyone but the birthers, deathers, teabaggers and LaRoushians, right?

If it's such a clear cut choice why are so many legislators afraid to vote for it? Many are Dems, do you think they beleive other polls more, do you think they are all "on the take" from insurers, do you think they feel it's a Trojan horse which will lead to a single payer system?

Rereading the question don't you think that the intent could also show that 77% of the respondents want to be sure a private option is maintained to be available in contrast to an inevitable public option. Hardly a glowing endorsement of the public option.
